The HKUST MBA Alumni Association Guangdong Chapter (MBAAAGD) and the HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute (SHCIRI) jointly held the HKUST Alumni Spring Reunion in SHCIRI Alumni House in Shenzhen. The event welcomed nearly 150 guests, including faculty of HKUST Business School, representatives of major alumni associations and enthusiastic MBA alumni, to exchange and explore ideas centered around the theme "New Vision in Science and Technology: Insight into New Opportunities".

Professor XU Yan (left), Associate Dean (HKUST EMBA, Executive Education & China Strategy), encouraged our alumni to enhance their capabilities through fostering IQ, EQ and PQ (Physical Quotient) development. He highlighted that Hong Kong and other cities could achieve complementary benefits during the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Professor YANG Jinglei (right), General Director of SHCIRI, introduced the SHCIRI emphasizing the potential of synergetic efforts between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, especially in technology innovation. He believes that SHCIRI is an excellent platform with the support from professional teams to promote the benefits of technological innovation in society.

A panel, featuring our alumni from Intel, Zhuhai Pilot Technology Corporation and Shenzhen Pudu Technology Corporation, discussed the emerging trends in science and technology and their industry insights in chip line, software and robotics, respectively. The active dialogue with participants underscored the significance of the close alliance between science talent and business talent to realize science and technology innovation.


Professor Stephen SHIH (left), Associate Dean (MBA Programs), described the legacy of knowledge sharing among professors, alumni and students as “red birds teaching red birds”; while Ms. Helen CHEN (right), Head of External and Alumni Relations of HKUST Business School, anticipated for future cross-border network and collaborations with the Mainland and Hong Kong HKUST communities.

This event attests to the close-knit HKUST network across different regions, with strong support from alumni as they are eager to help and welcome each other despite the physical distance.
