The School’s Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA) and Cyberport Hong Kong co-hosted a seminar series in December, attracting over 50 students from local universities to gather at Cyberport Smart-Space FinTech to learn from a panel of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) experts and technologists.
Mr. Victor YIM, Head of FinTech of Cyberport, kick-started the event with an opening speech and introduced the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund, a HK$100,000 grant that supports innovative ideas of early-stage start-ups and high-potential digital tech projects.
Our guest speakers Mr. Philbert TONG (left), Head of Research and New Products of ESG Matters; Dr. Marc ZHANG (middle), Head of Research of Portage Bay; and Mr. Mark HO (right), Co-founder and CEO of ProMEX, then delivered a wealth of insights into ESG imperatives, including real-world case studies on enhancing ESG reporting and data management, and an overview of the carbon trading market.
Following the seminars was a breakout session where students could interact with the speakers in small groups. It was delighted to see the palpable energy in the room as enthusiastic students engaged in intense casual discussions with the speakers and asked lively and thoughtful questions. The event inspired students to think more critically about the issues at hand and to develop novel research proposals or data analytics models for addressing climate risks.
