To bridge the gap between school learning and skill demand in the real-world fintech environment, the Fintech Research Project has been collaborating with different industry partners to provide students with industry knowledge and prepare them for the competitive job market. Two fintech practitioner sharing sessions were held in October, covering topics like the latest fintech applications in banking, the most in-demand skill sets in the fintech job market, and practical advice for career development in the field.

“Applying Fintech in Banking” by Deloitte

Ms. Reginia CHAN, Partner of Deloitte, discussed the latest fintech market development and the application of fintech solutions in solving business problems. Through specific fintech cases, Ms. Chan also shared how to achieve concrete business outcomes by applying the right technology for business transformation.

“Future Career in Fintech” by the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) & China CITIC

In another sharing session, Mr. Phillip KAM, Chief Institute Development Officer of HKIB, explained the different roles and responsibilities in banking, as well as the important soft skills and core competencies required in the industry over the next few years. In addition, Mr. Kenneth CHAN, Vice President of Investment Service, Wealth Management, Personal & Business Banking Group of China CITIC, shared his inspiring career journey from traditional banking to virtual banking, as well as the challenges and takeaways of adopting fintech solutions.
