Mr. Lee Shing-Put (BBA alumnus majoring in finance and economics) is an aspiring entrepreneur. After establishing several successful startups, he took over Xinyi Glass – the business founded by his father and accelerated the company’s evolution from manufacturing and trading to renewable energy generation and storage. Chaired by Mr. Lee, Xinyi Energy is now a leading solar power station investor and specialist in the Mainland. In 2019, Mr. Lee donated to the HKUST Alumni Endowment Fund in support of student initiatives. He has been the University’s Court member since 2020.

Mr. David Lee Wai-Hung, a member of the Lee Kum Kee family business, not only helped the sauce company sail through the financial crisis, but also diversified its portfolio with his four siblings. He supports and promotes family cohesion through the Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation where he served as its Chairman from 2013 to 2018. Mr. Lee also works closely with leading local and international universities including HKUST, where he has made donations and served on the University Court and the Business School’s Advisory Council, providing advice and support on issues such as students’ holistic developments.

Among the earliest batches of HKUST students, the Hon. Starry LEE Wai-King (BBA alumna majoring in accounting) started her political career at the age of 25. She was once the only Hong Kong politician holding seats simultaneously in the city’s District, Legislative, and Executive Councils. In 2015, she became the first Chairwoman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong. As a sitting member of the HKUST Court since 2016 and the University’s Council Member between 2010 and 2016, Ms. Lee helped facilitate HKUST’s development, including securing government funding for the University’s student dormitory project.
