Our Assistant Professor Marc DORDAL CARRERAS (Economics) moderated a comprehensive discussion featuring speakers including Assistant Professor CHEN Yanzhen (Information Systems) from HKUST, Assistant Professor Anthony ZHANG (Finance) from the University of Chicago, Ben EL-BAZ, Head of Ecosystems from HashKey, and Sylvan C. Coleman Chair Professor Christine PARLOUR from the University of California at Berkeley.

Central Bank Digital Currencies: Implementation, Applications and Challenges
Serving as a moderator, Professor Edwin LAI (Economics), Associate Director of the Center, hosted an insightful discussion with George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Chair and Distinguished Professor Barry EICHENGREEN (Economics and Political Science) from the University of California at Berkeley, and Dr. XIA Yong, Global Head of HSBC Lab and Board Director of the Corda Network Foundation.
They discussed various topics about central bank digital currencies (CBDC), including the purposes and advantages of CBDCs, the impact of CBDCs on financial sectors and financial stability, and consumer protection. Click here to watch the full video of the event.
