In today’s dynamic and challenging business environment, it is essential for leaders to make high-quality decisions, and lead and communicate with the team to achieve desirable performance.
Since 2014, the Executive Education Office has been offering a five-day High Potentials Leadership Consortium Program to address executives’ learning needs. The program comprises three one to two-day modules in Managerial Decision Making, Effective Team Communications, and Leading Teams to Performance. Through lectures, case studies, exercises, and group discussions, the program aims to help executives improve their leadership capabilities and offer them access to the latest management knowledge.
This year, participants come from diverse backgrounds with an average of 19 years of working experience. They are from 14 companies and represent five industries, such as banking and finance, building and construction, medical services and pharmaceutical, retail, and government and non-profit organizations.
In October, the last module was taught by Professor Mitya NEW. Participants found the module practical and eye-opening. Key learning points touched on team diversity, team performance, team challenge, cultural difference in teams, and virtual teams.
What’s more, the Executive Education Office also ran the ninth Leadership Development Program (LDP) this Fall. The customized program was curated for HKSAR government officers to address their learning needs and develop individual management and leadership skills. In total, 42 government officers from nine bureaus, departments, and related organizations took part. In October, Professor New launched the first module “Leading for Performance” and explored how to build an effective team operation system. He also introduced numerous team-building exercises to demonstrate how participants could build effective teams.
Other modules will include “Managerial Decision Making” by Professor Bilian SULLIVAN, “Team Communications” by Ms Paula HO, and “Creative thinking” by Professor Hilton CHAN. Through lectures and stimulating exercises, participants will gain a better understanding of how to achieve effective team communications, improve team performance by incorporating creativity at work during challenging and uncertain times.
