As the global pandemic lingers, many physical international academic events and outbound exchanges continue to face disruptions. This gives online events an opportunity to rise and shine. As a leading business school in Asia, HKUST remains active in its collaboration with different organizations and institutions beyond the region to provide quality training for business executives.
In October 2020, the Executive Education Office collaborated with the German Chamber of Commerce and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Sauder School of Business in Canada for two webinars. “Understand How Marketing Evolved until Marketing 4.0”, a webinar organized by the German Chamber of Commerce, attracted a diverse group of audience with nearly 90% non-Chinese participants. Around 40% were senior executives. Prof. HONG Jiewen, Acting Head and Professor of the Department of Marketing gave a keynote speech on the evolution of marketing strategies in China.
Another webinar entitled “Strengths and Weaknesses of the Blockchain Technology”, co-hosted across the Pacific by the UBC Sauder School of Business and the HKUST Business School, was also well-received by over 400 participants globally. Prof. HUI Kai-lung, Associate Dean (Research) of the HKUST Business School analyzed how blockchain facilitates tamper-proof decentralized processing. Prof. Carson WOO from UBC also introduced a more basic blockchain feasibility model.
