It is with great pleasure that the University announces the appointment of Professor HUNG Mingyi as the Head of the Department of Accounting effective from August 1, 2020. Professor Hung succeeds Professor Kevin CHEN, who has paved a strong foundation for the Department.
Professor Hung completed her PhD at MIT and became a faculty member at the Department of Accounting at HKUST in 2012. Her area of expertise focused on International Capital markets, Financial Accounting, and International Financial Reporting Standards. Previously an editor and currently an editorial board member of the leading accounting journal The Accounting Review, Professor Hung has also served in several administrative roles at HKUST, including the Chair of the University Committee on Faculty Diversity and Early Career Support and Acting Department Head.
As the new department head, Professor Hung aims to strengthen the School’s reputation as a leading research school and expand its impact in Hong Kong and beyond. “These are unprecedented times. Our faculty and I will endeavor to work together with students and alumni to tackle the challenges ahead,” she says.
