It is with immense sadness that we inform you about the passing of our respected faculty member and dear friend, Professor Theodore (Ted) Henry King Clark, in December 2023.

For almost three decades, Prof. Clark had been a valued member of the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM or formerly ISMT) at HKUST. Since his arrival in 1994, he had provided significant contributions to the Department, including serving as the Deputy Head of ISMT from 2000-2002 and founding the MSc Information Systems Management (ISM) program in 1997. He served as the Academic Director of MSc ISM in the past 25 years with vision, dedication, and passion, until his retirement in June 2023.

Prof. Clark was also one of the earliest advocates for online learning, offering many voluntary coaching and sharing sessions to our faculty on Zoom teaching during different challenging times, including the protest in 2019 and then COVID from 2020 onwards. He took up the Directorship for the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation in Business School and contributed to many blended learning and MOOC developments. His passion for teaching is most admirable.

Prof. Clark will be best remembered as a compassionate and helpful teacher, a humorous and friendly colleague, and an inventive contributor. May he rest in peace.

In honoring his memory and expressing our condolences to his family through the online tributes page, you are welcome to leave a tribute message from a memory you have with Prof. Clark here, and the messages will be compiled and sent to his family.
