ISOM and FINA Professor Named Senior Research Fellow by the RGC

Chair Professor LI Yingying from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management and Department of Finance has been conferred the title “RGC Senior Research Fellow” by the Research Grants Council (RGC), gaining a fellowship grant of HK$7.8 million for 60 months from January 1, 2024.

Professor Li’s research project entitled “Financial Big Data for Risks” will make use of financial big data to perform rigorous and comprehensive statistical learning for more accurate risk measurements and forecasting and construct a high-quality risk database that will provide researchers and the public with risk measurements and forecasts of various forms and themes.

The fellowship scheme is prestigious. It supports only ten awardees each year for exceptionally outstanding academics at UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong, intending to facilitate their dedication to research and development.

ISOM Professor Elected as SoFiE Fellow

Professor ZHENG Xinghua from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management has been elected as one of the three Fellows of the Society for Financial Econometrics (SoFiE) this year. The announcement was made at the 15th Annual SoFiE Conference in Seoul. The Fellowship was awarded to individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to financial econometrics.

SoFiE is a global network of academics and practitioners dedicated to sharing research and ideas in the fast-growing field of financial econometrics. It is an independent non-profit membership organization that commits to promoting and expanding research and education by organizing and sponsoring conferences, programs, and activities at the intersection of finance and econometrics, including links to macroeconomic fundamentals.

Management Faculty Joined the Editorial Review Board

By recent invitations, Associate Professor Pavel ZHELYAZKOV and Assistant Professor WANG Danqing from the Department of Management joined the editorial review board of Organization Science.

Published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Organization Science ranked 37 in the Financial Times Top 50 Journals. It is widely recognized as one of the top journals in the strategy, management, and organization theory fields. The journal publishes groundbreaking research about organizations, including their processes, structures, technologies, identities, capabilities, forms, and performance.
