On November 26 2020, Prof Edwin L. C. LAI presented the Fudan Financial Online Public Lecture #54 “One Currency, Two Markets: China’s Attempt to Internationalize the Renminbi” （ 复旦金融公开课 #54：一币两市，人民币国际化之路）. The English-language lecture was based on his book of the same title, scheduled for publishing by the Cambridge University Press this May.
In this lecture, Prof. Lai explained in depth why China wants to internationalize the renminbi, the costs and benefits of renminbi internationalization to China and to the world, the condition for renminbi internationalization to succeed, and the prospects of renminbi internationalization.
The event was streamed on 11 digital platforms, including the WeChat and official Douyin account of the Fudan Financial Review, Sina Finance, Weibo, Baidu, Toutiao Finance, Netease News, Wind 3C, Eastmoney, The Bank of China University, and Luban University’s Leadership Academy.
