The Alumni Reunion Day has marked an exhilarating start to 2024! The School is thrilled to see numerous alumni return to their alma mater with family and friends to rekindle the fond memories at HKUST.

The day-long event on January 13 offered something for everyone. While our alumni took the opportunities to reconnect, their kids enjoyed various fun-filled and educational activities, including the recycled tin can DIY workshop and the engaging build-your-own household hydroponic garden workshop. Heartfelt thanks to our Business School alumni, who hosted these workshops, and to those who participated for their great support!

Meanwhile, our MBA and MSc programs made the most of the opportunity to bring extra activities to their alumni, respectively on our Clear Water Bay Campus and the new Guangzhou Campus:

MBA Homecoming Luncheon

On the same afternoon, our MBA Program hosted a homecoming luncheon with tremendous success, bringing together over 300 alumni, students, and faculty for a delightful dim sum gathering. It was a joyous occasion where our much-missed friends reconnected and new connections flourished across the various MBA programs, including Full-time, Part-time Weekly, Part-time Biweekly, and Digital MBA.

What made the event even more exceptional was the presence of alumni who traveled from Switzerland and Southeast Asia specifically to be part of this celebration. We had the privilege of hearing about exciting plans from the newly formed MBA Running Group and engaging in conversation with one of our esteemed graduates from the inaugural class of 1991. The unwavering support they demonstrated for the HKUST MBA program and one another is truly heartening.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended, as it was an absolute pleasure to catch up and reminisce about our shared experiences. We would also like to express our deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this remarkable gathering, which celebrated the strength and vitality of our MBA community. We eagerly anticipate the next event and the opportunity to create more cherished memories together!

MSc Alumni Event at HKUST(GZ) Campus

The MSc Alumni Event at HKUST(GZ) on the same day brought together the MSc alumni, current students, and new intake students to reconnect, network, and discover the latest developments at HKUST, HKUST(GZ), and the Business School.

The one-day alumni event provided a unique opportunity for the participants to be exposed to various activities, including campus tours, networking opportunities, and talks by esteemed speakers.

The event commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Chris TSANG (left), Assistant Dean (Administration) and MSc Program Director, to introduce the latest developments of HKUST and the School; followed by a highlight of the day - the sharing by Professor XIONG Hui (middle), Associate Vice President (Knowledge Transfer) and Head of Artificial Intelligence Thrust, HKUST(GZ). Prof. Xiong shared his insights on the opportunities and challenges of ChatGPT (ChatGPT - 变革的机遇与挑战), an AI-based chatbot technology, its potential impact, and how we can apply the chatbot technology across industries. Another notable speaker was our MSc in Economics alumnus, Professor Benjamin CHIAO (right). He delivered a talk on the exciting development prospects and challenges within the Greater Bay Area (大湾区科创发展前景与挑战).

Beyond the enriching talk, guests visited the state-of-the-art technology lab and experienced the latest advancements firsthand. The event provided a valuable opportunity for alumni to stay connected with their peers and the University, at the same time staying abreast of the latest developments in their respective fields.
