HKUST's InvestLM: Hong Kong's First Open-Source Large Language Model
Various media, including 881903.com, Mirage News, HKET, Line Today, HKET2, HKEJ, epochtimes, quamnet, infocastfn, National Tribune, bhkaec.org.hk, inews.hket.com , Ezone (1) and Ezone (2), reported that a research team at the School has developed InvestLM, HK's first open-source large language model (LLM) for financial generative AI (GenAI) applications. Dean Prof. TAM Kar-Yan said that developing LLMs in-house can help financial firms gain competitive edge through the application of generative AI, while retaining better control over proprietary information and customers’ data. Member of the research project team Associate Prof. YANG Yi, Department of ISOM, hopes that InvestLM can serve as a useful reference for industry practitioners in the financial sector and beyond who want to unlock the power of generative AI.
