Eighteen major speakers offered tips on how companies and individuals should prepare for the next decade at a management conference organized by the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Program in celebration of its 10th anniversary in Hong Kong today.
Entitled "Moving Forward in the Next Decade", the one day conference was attended by over 200 business leaders, academics, senior professionals, and undergraduate students.
The Honorable Henry Tang, Financial Secretary of the Government of HKSAR, was the guest of honor. Daniel Pink, author of international best seller A Whole New Mind, The Honorable David Li, Chairman of The Bank of East Asia, Prof. KC Chan, Dean of the HKUST Business School, Prof. Dipak Jain, Dean of the Kellogg School of Management were keynote speakers.
The one-day event featured two plenary sessions with Mr Anthony Nightingale, Managing Director of Jardine Matheson, Mr James Thompson, Chairman of Crown Worldwide Group, Professor Ranjay Gulati of the Kellogg School of Management, Professor Caroline Wang of the HKUST Business School, Mr David Cunningham, President, Asia Pacific Division of FedEx Express, Dr Lawrence Wong, former CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Mr Peter Stein, Hong Kong Bureau Chief, The Wall Street Journal.
Three professors, namely, Prof. Ranjay Gulati and Prof. Lakshman Krishnamurthi of Kellogg and Prof. Steven DeKrey of the HKUST Business School, each chaired a breakout session on a different topic.
In his opening address, Mr Henry Tang said the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program's celebration coincided with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He described the program as innovate and forward-looking. He said, "I am confident that it (the program) will continue to add to the reputation of management education offered in Hong Kong."
Welcoming the guests at the event, Prof. Paul Chu, President of the HKUST, said the Conference is a tribute to the on-going partnership between the HKUST Business School and the Kellogg School. "The Conference reflects the program's mission in leading the way and making a meaningful contribution to business communities and society itself," he said.
The Conference was co-chaired by Prof. Steven DeKrey, who is also the Founding Director of the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Program and Prof. Stephen Burnett, Associate Dean of Kellogg.
The Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program was established in 1997. In the latest Financial Times ranking, the program was listed as No. 3 in the world and it has consistently placed in the top 10 for four consecutive years by the paper since 2003.
