Our UG students shine again in local and overseas case competitions, by demonstrating a strong spirit of innovation, together with remarkable problem-solving and presentation skills.
HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition
We are excited to announce that our students were crowned champions in the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2024! Organized by the Asia Case Research Centre of HKU Business School, the competition brought together prestigious universities from the region.
Representing Hong Kong as the champions, the team consists of Tiffany CHEUNG (Year 2 Global Business), Regis CHONG (Year 2 Global Business), Stanley HUNG (Year 4 Global Business & Finance), and Tommy WONG (Year 2 Global Business). Against 23 other universities with many being winners of their home countries, the HKUST team competed on two three-hour cases and secured a place among the four finalists. In the Final Round, they impressed the judges with their creative and comprehensive approach to helping a local social enterprise retain talent for its sustainable business, thus clinching the championship.

Rotterdam School of Management RSM Star Case Competition
Another HKUST team, formed by Samantha BOUCHER (Year 2 World Bachelor in Business - WBB), Mahek DODANI (Year 2 WBB), Ismet OZER (Year 4 Global Business & Computer Science), and Justin TANG (Year 2 WBB), secured the first place in the 12-hour case round and finished the third runner-up overall!
The HKUST team participated in two intensive 12- and 24-hour case cracking sessions on the companies: Tata Steel and Microsoft, Greenport West-Holland. For the former session, the team proposed a comprehensive collaborative solution that would see Tata Steel leverages Microsoft technologies to achieve its 2045 sustainability transition goals. Similarly, the team offered a strategy that aimed to unite the Broekpoelder community into a collaborative transition to sustainable energy usage in the latter session.
Meanwhile, the HKUST team has been invited to further share their 12-hour case presentation to Tata Steel and Microsoft. They are looking forward to this exceptional opportunity!

Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition
At the Chulalongkorn International Business Case Competition (CIBCC), the HKUST team competed head-to-head with 19 top-ranked international business schools, winning the second runner-up.
They excelled and placed first in both divisional rounds. In the eight-hour case, the team presented a strategic plan to harness tourism for Thailand’s leading real estate and retail developer. For the 24-hour case, they devised a future plan to support Thailand's renowned developer of fully integrated logistics and industrial facilities in their transformation into a technology company.
Participating in CIBCC for the first time, our School is proud of the team for their outstanding performance.
