Dinner in New York City: Heartfelt Conversations Over Chinese Cuisine

What a remarkable alumni dinner in New York City, where our alumni came together to reconnect with old friends and forge new connections. The event highlighted the strong bond that unites us across borders. From engaging ice-breaker challenges to heartfelt conversations over delicious Chinese cuisine, every moment was filled with warmth and nostalgia. The souvenirs and flags from the School served as reminders of their shared experiences. This gathering exemplified the spirit of our vibrant alumni community, near and far.

Set Sail for Success: MSc Alumni Cruise Reunion in Shanghai

The MSc Alumni Cruise Reunion in Shanghai in late March was a huge success! It was a cozy reunion with MSc alumni from different cities to reconnect and network with our honorable guests and new friends while enjoying a river cruise travel.

The evening began with opening remarks by our Assistant Dean (Administration) and MSc Program Director, Mr. Chris TSANG (left), who welcomed alumni and set the tone for the evening. It was followed by a speech from Mr. PAN Yi (right), Chairman of the HKUST EMBA Alumni Association, who shared his insights and experiences in entrepreneurship in Mainland China. His expertise and knowledge were truly inspiring.

The cruise reunion event provided a warm and intimate atmosphere for our guests and alumni to catch up with friends and make new connections. It also offered a unique opportunity for participants to enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the Huangpu River, while networking with fellow alumni. The dinner and river cruise created a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.

Alumni Mixer: An Insightful Panel Discussion on Gen AI

Another event held by the MSc Programs was an exciting Alumni Mixer, featuring a thought-provoking panel discussion with distinguished business leaders on Gen AI. The event provided a platform for nearly 100 participants, including HKUST alumni, university undergraduates, and industry professionals, to engage in intellectual exchange, networking, and discussions surrounding the ever-evolving landscape of AI and its profound impact on the business world.

The event commenced with opening remarks by our Assistant Dean (Administration) and MSc Program Director, Mr. Chris TSANG. Esteemed faculty members also presented the part-time master’s programs offered by HKUST Business School, specifically the MSc in Business Analytics and MSc in Information Systems Management. The MSc Programs Introduction was presented by Prof. ZHENG Rong and Prof. Lancelot F. JAMES, highlighting how these programs can help individuals master the future with a master's degree study.

The panel discussion was moderated by Prof. CHOI Joon Nak. It featured industry leaders in the field of AI, including Aldric CHAU, Jovan TRAJCESKI, Lily CHENG, Maria HUI, and Raymond KWOK. The discussion focused on their industry insights on Gen AI for the next two years. They shared their views on the impact of Gen AI on businesses and the various opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

The panelists also discussed the importance of upskilling and reskilling in the age of AI, emphasizing the need for continuous learning and development to stay relevant in the fast-changing job market. They also discussed the role of AI in driving innovation and how it can be leveraged to create new business models and revenue streams.

The event was concluded with a Q&A session and a cocktail reception, providing attendees with an opportunity to network and connect with like-minded individuals.
