The HKUST Roger King Center for Asian Family Business and Family Office successfully concluded the 2026 special program, “From Family Business to Family Office: Succession and Governance,” in mid June.

This intensive two-day program was designed specifically for professionals in family businesses, family offices, and wealth management industry. It brought together participants from Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, Singapore, and Cambodia, representing sectors such as family offices, private banks, asset management firms, family office industry associations, consultancies, real estate, and insurance.

Throughout the program, the center’s faculty and guest speakers shared years of practical research and firsthand case studies, offering participants actionable insights of real-world value. The program also included a site visit and case discussion at the Lee Kum Kee headquarters, where participants observed how a renowned century-old Chinese family business embeds its core values into daily governance.
The program received overwhelmingly high ratings and positive feedback from participants:
A private bank wealth advisor from Chinese Mainland remarked: “The program integrates theory with practice exceptionally well. The sharing of real‑life cases was highly valuable and provided me with practical experience that I can directly apply when serving high‑net‑worth families.”
A family office principal from Hong Kong emphasized: “This program was extremely helpful for establishing my own family office. The in‑depth interpretation of the ‘Three Preservations’ gave me a much clearer understanding of the core logic of family succession. These firsthand experiences cannot be found in any textbook.”
Another participant from Chinese Mainland, who works in family advisory services, reflected: “This program not only helped me build a complete knowledge framework for family succession and governance, but the site visit to Lee Kum Kee allowed me to witness how a mature governance system operates within a century‑old family. From classroom to enterprise, from theory to practice, this immersive learning experience gave me a completely new understanding of how to implement family governance.”
Stay tuned for the next module of our Global Family Leader Succession Program: “Family Governance: Practice and Reflection” (October 22–24, 2026) for multi-generation families.
