A majority of the respondents agreed that tokenized deposits should have the same legal status and protection as deposits in licensed banks regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, with almost 52% agreeing, about 18% disagreeing, and 30% remaining neutral. 5. A significant majority of respondents (89.59%) would prefer using regulated tokenized money. Specifically, approximately 48% would consider using CBDC, about 32% would consider using stablecoins, and about 30% would consider tokenized deposits. Only about 17% would consider unregulated tokens. 6. Security, regulation, and data privacy are top factors influencing respondents’ decisions to use tokenized money, while global acceptance is more preferred than local acceptance. A high level of security was selected by 56.64% of respondents as the top factor in deciding to use tokenized money, while regulation by respective authorities in Hong Kong and data privacy protection were selected by 49.7% and 37.44%, respectively. Additionally, about 32% of respondents preferred global acceptance and almost 27% favored local acceptance. Recommendations 1. Simplify Transaction Processes: Support R&D in blockchain technologies to improve transaction efficiency and security. Develop user-friendly Web3 platforms to reduce reliance on intermediaries. 2. Enhance Interoperability: Promote global standards and collaboration between regulatory bodies to ensure seamless use of tokenized money across platforms and regions. 3. Enhance Security and Privacy: Implement stringent security measures and enforce data privacy standards to protect users and build trust in digital financial transactions. 4. Strengthen Regulatory Frameworks: Develop clear regulations for virtual assets and tokenized money to ensure investor protection and market stability. Collaborate with industry stakeholders to balance innovation with security. 5. Increase Education and Awareness: Launch educational campaigns and create resources to inform the public about the benefits and risks of digital financial assets.
