Public Perception of Virtual Assets and Tokenized Money
23 Increase in Adoption of Virtual Assets over Time A significant percentage of respondents reported first holding virtual assets before 2021, with 20.14% in the first survey and 20.89% in the second survey. Additionally, about 10% of respondents in the third survey indicated they first held virtual assets more than 5 years ago, reflecting an early interest in virtual assets. The highest percentages of adoption are observed between Q2 of 2021 and Q3 of 2022, suggesting a peak during this period. According to the third survey conducted in November 2024, 27.89% of respondents first held virtual assets between two and five years ago, and 25.61% between one and two years ago. This indicates a sustained interest in virtual assets starting in late 2019 and continuing for about four years. Although there has been a slight decline in more recent periods, with 19.15% and 15.20% of respondents reporting first holding virtual assets between six and twelve months ago and less than six months ago, respectively, the results continue to show a steady interest. Overall, the data indicates a significant growth in the adoption of virtual assets, particularly around 2021 and 2022, with a continued steady interest into 2024. Figure 21.
