Dear friends of HKUST Business School,
When talking to our students, I often hear concerns about their job prospects amid the impact of AI, trade disputes, geopolitical tussles, and other disruptive forces. There is no denying that today’s job market is filled with uncertainty.
Against this backdrop, our graduates continue to stand out. We do not claim credit for their success. Our students are extremely talented, bright, and hardworking. Our focus as a school is simply to provide the best possible support and environment for their talent to unfold, shine and to be noticed by top employers.
In the past month alone, we have intensified our efforts to ensure that career readiness is not an afterthought, but a systematic focus of the HKUST Business School experience. From charting future pathways through our Career Development Advisory Council, to taking students on career treks in key markets, to hosting exchanges with leading overseas business schools on the future of business education in an increasingly borderless world. Together, these initiatives reflect a shared commitment across our community.
I anticipate that job market turbulence will continue in the next few years. Business schools that can ensure the best employment outcomes for students have a distinctive advantage and will continue to attract the very best students. We are very proud to be ranked as one of the universities with the best employment outcomes in the world. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our colleagues, including those we celebrate through our Long Service Awards, whose dedication forms the foundation of our students’ success.
