DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE OF SURVEY RESPONDENTS 5 DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE OF SURVEY RESPONDENTS The 5,732 Phase 1 respondents and the 4,077 Phase 2 respondents comprised adults of various age groups, occupations, income levels and education and investment experiences. The demographic distributions of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 samples are largely similar: • In Phase 1, 61% of the respondents were female and 39% were male. In Phase 2, 57% were female and 43% were male. • More than half of the respondents (53.3% in Phase 1 and 54.4% in Phase 2) were between 30 and 44 years old. • Most of the respondents were either clerical and service workers (38.3% in Phase 1 and 40.0% in Phase 2) or engaged in administrative and professional work (29.5% in Phase 1 and 30.5% in Phase 2). • A majority of the respondents (83.7% in Phase 1 and 81.2% in Phase 2) reported a monthly income below HK$50,000. • In terms of education, 61.3% of the Phase 1 survey respondents and 64.2% of the Phase 2 respondents had an undergraduate degree or above. • About one third of the respondents (35.1% in Phase 1 and 33.7% in Phase 2) had less than four years of investment experience, about a quarter (25.6% in Phase 1 and 27.5% in Phase 2) possessed 10 or more years of experience, and less than a fifth (17.7% in Phase 1 and 16.4% in Phase 2) had no investment experience at all.
