Insurtech Talent Development in Hong Kong – From Insurance to Insurtech: Strategies for Building a Sustainable Talent Pipeline
3 In this report, we present our findings from an in-depth literature review of Hong Kong’s insurtech development and the city’s manpower situation and talent development. We also release the results of our industry-wide survey, which identifies the challenges, talent needs, and preferred training and talent recruitment approaches for developing insurtech in Hong Kong. Following this, we investigate the talent situation in two other major insurance hubs, namely Singapore and the United Kingdom. Hong Kong can reference their situations to devise an effective strategy to build a sustainable talent pool. We hope that this report can furnish the key industry participants – including the government, policymakers, regulators, insurers and insurance professionals – with the necessary information and direction to enhance the talent development pipeline and effectively coordinate talent development strategies across the sector. Additionally, we believe that the report can serve as a useful resource for job seekers and students who are interested in enhancing their understanding of the digital and cultural transformations that will continue to shape the insurance industry so they can truly embrace the opportunities presented by insurtech.
