International Experiences in Green Finance Development
10 International Experiences in Green Finance Development: Lessons for Hong Kong Our fieldtrip also sought to address a wide spectrum of discussion topics. The dialogues covered critical areas such as green finance policies, regulations, market development, innovation, sustainable projects, information disclosure, and regulations, among others. After the interviews were completed, the research team conducted multiple in-depth analyses of key texts to elucidate important findings and trends. Additionally, we also conducted targeted research with local stakeholders in Hong Kong, as our exploration of international cities was aimed at advancing green and sustainable finance in the city. To this end, we conducted 31 seminars and 14 in-depth interviews with organizations such as the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Financial Service and Development Council (FSDC), the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), and so on. Insights and feedback from these pivotal players in the city’s green finance ecosystem were crucial in identifying the challenges faced in developing green and sustainable finance in Hong Kong. What’s more, given that the development of green and sustainable finance in Hong Kong is interconnected with progress in Mainland China, we also conducted research on the four major green finance cities in Mainland China: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. We gathered data on their policies and active stakeholders to provide a comprehensive view of the broader context. For more detailed information, please refer to the appendix section.
