Dear friends of HKUST Business School,
As part of our journey to become Asia’s most internationally connected business school, we recently hosted our BizInsight Forum in London. The event was designed to bring together our global community in one of the world’s most iconic business capitals focusing on key questions that matter across regions today. Not surprisingly, the two themes that dominated the conversation were geo-economic changes and the rapid acceleration of AI.
What I have taken away from the conversations is that, first, underneath the stories of deglobalization and fragmentation, there remains a strong undercurrent of global connectedness, which aligns with the business school’s role and ambition. Second, staying current with rapid AI progress is a realization that we are not simply talking about a new tool to deploy. AI is fundamentally changing how we work and how we relate to each other. To get AI adoption right, there is a growing recognition that it is not about who automates the most, but about who can design technology to amplify human strengths. This perspective speaks to the role of HKUST Business School: to develop AI-native leaders who can navigate a fragmented and uncertain world with curiosity, capability, and courage—the very qualities demonstrated by our alumni in London. They have built successful global careers while remaining deeply connected to the HKUST community, serving as bridges between HKUST, Hong Kong, and the world.
