Ms. Edith SHIH is Executive Director and Company Secretary of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, at which she oversees legal, regulatory, corporate governance and compliance matters for over 30 years.

Edith holds Master’s degrees (MA and EdM) from Columbia University and is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, Hong Kong and Victoria, Australia. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).

Aside from her work commitments, Edith is Chairman of the Process Review Panel of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, Member of the Executive Committee and Council of the Hong Kong Management Association, Member of the Hong Kong Europe Business Council, Past International President and current Council Member of CGI and Past President and current Honorary Advisor of HKCGI. She is also Vice Chairman of Helping Hand, a local charity that looks after the elderly in the Mainland and Hong Kong.

On the education front, Edith is a Trustee of Teachers College, Columbia University, a Steering Committee Member of the Forum for World Education and a Governor of the English Schools Foundation. She completed her term as Finance Committee Chairman and Council Member of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in late 2023.

As a Council Member of HKUST, she is the Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee and the Main Tender Board, Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, and Member of the Standing Committee, Human Resources Committee, Knowledge Transfer Committee and Honorary Awards Committee. She is currently Chairman of the Search Committee for Vice President for Mainland Affairs, and previously the Chairman of the Search Committee for the Provost and Member of the Search Committee for Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She feels particularly privileged and proud to have chaired the Working Group for the production of the HKUST University Anthem.

Since its inception in 1913, the BGS society has inducted over 900,000 exceptional members in over 190 countries, including close to 3,000 inductees from the HKUST Business School.

BGS serves as an international honor society that provides outstanding students with opportunities to connect with their peers and global leaders. The success of the HKUST Chapter over the past two decades is the result of the continuous support from our members and esteemed honorees.

This year, we are honored to have Ms. Edith SHIH, Executive Director and Company Secretary of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, as our Chapter Honoree. Edith has made notable contributions to numerous committees and panels of public, regulatory, and professional bodies. She has also relentlessly served HKUST as a member of the University Council and chaired the University Anthem Working Group. Her achievements exemplify the values and ideals that BGS holds dear.

I encourage you to draw inspiration from Edith’s remarkable accomplishments. As you begin your journey as BGS members, you will find your association with the BGS network rewarding for your future endeavors.
