The Fintech Talent Development, Competency, and Manpower Study 39 Technical Readiness and Technical Skill Gaps Technical Readiness: More to Be Done The competition in the fintech space in Hong Kong is stiff with over 160 licensed banks and 8 virtual banks. To understand the technical readiness of the industry, we asked respondents about their technological capability—including infrastructure and system development—as compared with other firms in the industry. The overall responses are shown in Exhibit 14. While these are self-reported assessments, they illustrate the perceived technical capacity of the surveyed firms. More than 20% reported they are behind the curve.
