The Fintech Talent Development, Competency, and Manpower Study 21 Study Methodology How the Information for this Study was Gathered • Executive interviews: A total of 28 one-on-one interviews 1 were conducted with executives representing a broad spectrum of the fintech industry. These interviews allowed us to gain an in-depth understanding of the fintech industry landscape, organization vision, and talent strategies. Interview participants also discussed the capabilities and competencies they believe are important to effectively operate in the fintech industry. • Industry-wide survey: To reach a larger population sample and to collect quantitative data, we conducted a survey based on the views and opinions collected in the interviews. A total of 82 responses 2 were received, and they represent different sectors in the fintech industry. Respondents were asked to share their opinions on strategic priorities, critical capabilities, challenges encountered, and the talent strategies of their organizations. A breakdown of the surveyed sample is shown in Exhibit 2. • Validation session: A total of 4 validation sessions were conducted with fintech professionals to validate the accuracy and relevancy of the list of core competencies. 1 These are structured interviews targeted on specific aspects of skill and competence as well as the strategy, challenges, and plan of the participating organization. 2 The survey questions were developed based on the executive interviews and the survey was administered electronically.
