The HKUST Business School PhD Program held its first-ever student conference in early May. Inviting all members of the university to join as the audience, the conference featured 15 presentations by our business students from all departments.

To stimulate cross-disciplinary interactions, a student from a different department was assigned to lead the discussion of each presentation. Many unexpected questions were raised, stimulating our speakers to improve their research and future presentations to become more accessible to general (business) audiences. The conference attracted students from the undergraduate and master’s programs, and faculty to sit in. Some of our faculty members also asked questions and gave suggestions to the presenters. All participants, including the presenters and audiences, found this conference a valuable learning opportunity.

To continue with the fruitful discussion and sharing beyond the conference in a more relaxing setting, an art tour and a casual dinner were arranged at K11 Musea, Hong Kong’s pioneering cultural-retail landmark. More than 100 faculty members and students joined the dinner gathering and benefited from the wonderful interactions with each other.
