[eNews] HKUST Marks 20 Years of AACSB Accreditation

Our achievements of excellence in business education has been reaffirmed as the School has maintained accreditation attainment by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

AACSB validation has demonstrated that the School has not only met the stringent standards of multi-dimensional criteria but has also been fully committed to continuous improvement to ensure engagement among stakeholders, deliver high-quality programs, encourage scholarly research, and design a relevant curriculum.

AACSB specifically highlighted the School’s partnerships with leading business schools throughout the world, significant international opportunities for its students, a highly diverse student body, and the qualitative outcomes of research centers.

“The AACSB Accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated excellence in all areas of teaching and research, curricula development and student learning,” says Prof TAM Kar Yan, Dean of the HKUST Business School. “Thanks to the uncompromising standard upheld by our faculty and staff, we have been able to not only maintain this respected honor for two decades, but will continue to provide the best business education for our students.”

AACSB is one of the world’s leading business school accreditation organizations. Less than 5% of the more than 16,000 schools worldwide granting business degrees have earned AACSB Accreditation. The HKUST Business School was one of the first Asian business schools to be accredited by AACSB back in 1999, and was reaccredited for another five years in 2019.

Founded in 1916, the US-based AACSB is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools. In addition to AACSB, our School has also been accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). The dual accreditations allow the School to benchmark itself against an array of objective norms shared by business schools worldwide.
