[eNews] UBC Sauder Global Immersion Experience Hong Kong @ HKUST

In February, a group of 24 MBA students from the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, in Canada, came to HKUST to join a two-week Global Immersion Experience Hong Kong program.

The program aimed to equip participants with useful concepts and skills on doing business in China and Hong Kong by a combination of lectures, case studies and discussions. Topics included “Political & Economic Environment in China” presented by Professor LIN Yi-Min from the Division of Social Science, “Social Issues in China” by Professor Bilian SULLIVAN from the Department of Management, “Consumer Psychology: An Asian Perspective” by Professor Jaideep SENGUPTA from the Department of Marketing, and “Finance and Accounting on Deal Making in China/Asia” by Professor Laurence Franklin from the Department of Management.

Apart from classroom learning, company visits, networking events and cultural activities were arranged. The visits to the Hong Kong Science Technology Park, Hutchison Ports and Shui On Land provided a good opportunity for the participants to better understand the latest technologies, logistics and property development in Hong Kong. A networking lunch with the HKUST MBA students and visits to the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Lantau Island were also arranged for them.
